Historical Salamanca Map
Salamanca evokes images of main square and University, Roman bridge and cathedrals, palaces and students, the house of "Las Conchas". It´s World Heritage City and European Capital of Culture... But Salamanca is happily much more. In his neat remote valleys hide territory refuge for many species, peaceful villages with excellent examples of the purest traditional architecture, quite woods for strolling and contemplation, historical buildings blocks of military, civil and religious preserved in the course of the times, happy and boisterous celebrations, pilgrimages and festivals full of life and fun ...
Snowy peaks of the Sierra de Béjar, deep valleys embedded in Arribes del Duero, seas of green and yellow cornfields, shady forests and mysterious lands clear horizons, intricate mountain valleys, clear streams and majestic small streams border ... All images that the traveler and hiker can enjoy in their journey through lands of Salamanca.

In fact, in the nature of this area of west peninsular prevail over any other, two features that make it undeniably unique: diversity and environmental quality. This has enabled the protection of much of this territory, including it in the Natural Areas Network of Castilla y León and the European network Natura 2000.

The rich heritage of the capital does not diminish the valuable artistic, cultural and monumental gather in the province. Most towns hide their attraction to fully justify its inclusion in the travelogue. Historical, religious architecture, civil and military and countless artworks join a rich popular culture replete with rituals and customs and traditions evident in daily business and holiday celebrations.
