This route starts in a village whose people are known as "Chinatos": Malpartida de Plasencia. They are so named because, according to tradition, they stole the carving of their patron saint (St. Juan Baptist) from his parish in Plasencia to bring it to Malpartida de Plasencia and they were pursued for snatching the carving. People from Malpartida defended the pursued heroes throwing stones (chinas)... So they are called "chinatos".
The Church of St. Juan Baptist is its main monumental attractiveness.
