From Guadalupe to Cañamero. Route of Isabel I the Catolic.
In this route we will enjoy one of the most beautiful villages in Extremadura, Guadalupe, home to the Royal Monastery founded after the appearance of the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe, patroness of the Autonomous Community. After visiting the monastery, touring the beautiful streets of the village and have a snack at the Parador, we´ll undertake the "Isabel I" hiking, between the towns of
Guadalupe and Cañamero that is part of the journey that Fernando the Catolic did when he came to Madrigalejo where, perhaps poisoned, he died later. This route will take us through beautiful Guadalupe Valley, near the "Agudo" Peak, the "Águila" mountains, the reservoir "Cancho del Fresno" and the old natural pools of Cañamero. One of the most beautiful attractions of the route is found in the unique tree called "Grandfather" an ancient chestnut who saw D. Fernando passing to his last destination.
