Our first stop will be in Penha Garcia. In this beautiful Portuguese town we´ll admire a spectacular granite landscape and discover its prehistoric past through its "Ruta dos Fósseis" (Fossils Route). In this same route we´ll verify the operation of a restored watermill and climb to the castle of the population. Curiously see that there is a war tank from the Portuguese Carnations Revolution “parked” on a small square.
The next destination is known as the most Portuguese village of Portugal: Monsanto. This is a town built, on and over, the granite. Stroll through its beautiful streets and climb the last Templar castle through a landscape of granite boulders that give a mysterious look. From the top we´ll get stunning views. We´ll descry our next destination on this route: Idanha a Velha, where we´ll go after lunch delicious products from Extremadura. Idanha a Velha is a small and beautiful town protected by a thick wall with many Roman vestiges of that time. We´ll do the return through the Segura border, crossing the bridge and the "big brother" of this, the impressive Roman Bridge of Alcantara, to continue the way to Garrovillas and then Plasencia.
